Christ, the Teacher par excellence, is our Supreme Guru and Guiding Light.
In our educational mission we follow the legacy of Blessed Kuriakose Elais Chavara, the founder of the Carmelites of Mary immaculate (CMI), the first indigenous Catholic Religious Congregation in India.
Blessed Chavara was a pioneer in the educational field of Kerala in the early 19th century. He is also credited to have established the first Catholic Sanskrit School and a printing and publishing house, at Mannanam in 1846. He directed that every church should start a school attached to it and encouraged children, even poorer sections, to attend the schools by supplying the mid-day meal and dress for them irrespective of caste, creed or religion. He lived for 65 years and died on 03 January, 1871. His sanctity was officially recognized by the Catholic Church, when Pope John Paul II declared him Blessed on 08 February, 1986. Blessed Chavara is the heavenly patron of all CMI institutions. His inspiration permeates all our activities.
